Cooper R. Benson, MD, is an assistant professor in the Division of Urology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He is board-certified by the American Board of Urology. He completed his fellowship training in genitourinary reconstructive surgery at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City with Dr. Steve Brandes.
Benson believes in an evidence-based and patient-centered individualized approach to care that focuses on improving quality of life.
Benson treats patients with a wide variety of urologic conditions, including urethral stricture disease, genital and urinary tract injury, ureteral strictures, male urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, adult buried penis, urinary diversions, side effects following prostate cancer, and other pelvic cancer treatments and radiation (bladder, colon and rectal, and gynecologic malignancy), rectourethral fistula, neurogenic bladder, and adults with congenital genitourinary anomalies.
He is an active member of the American Urologic Association, Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, and Sexual Medicine Society.
In his free time, Benson enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, attending concerts, trying new restaurants, and spending time outdoors.
